The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and inspirational Deputy Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team. This role is pivotal in shaping the continued development of the school and driving forward-thinking strategies that support all students, particularly those who need additional support. The successful candidate will be a strategic leader, passionate about education and committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the school’s inclusion agenda, ensuring ambitious and evidence-informed provision.
  • Support the Headteacher in leading and managing the school’s operations, including staff, students, parents, and governors.
  • Develop and implement policies that promote high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to drive continuous improvement across all areas of the school.
  • Manage complex priorities, balancing multiple responsibilities with clarity and professionalism.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that values the well-being of all students and staff.
  • Promote innovation and new ideas to enhance the school’s academic and extra-curricular provision.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration across the school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school setting.
  • Strong track record in managing complex educational environments and leading teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with staff, students, and parents.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement strategic initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to inclusion and student well-being, with experience in supporting vulnerable learners.
  • High level of organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar role within a large, oversubscribed school or academy.
  • Background in initial teacher training or experience working with educational trusts.
  • Leadership experience in driving innovation and curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with the Bishop’s Stortford Educational Trust (BSET) or similar institutions.
