The Opportunity:

As a Head Groundsman, you will lead the team responsible for the maintenance of the school’s grounds, ensuring they meet the highest standards and contribute to the overall "wow" factor of the campus. This role is essential in maintaining a welcoming and inspiring environment for students, staff, and visitors alike.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and lead a team in the daily maintenance of the school grounds.
• Ensure all outdoor areas are kept to a high standard, in line with the school’s expectations.
• Operate and maintain grounds maintenance machinery, including the use of a vehicle with a valid driving licence.
• Oversee the upkeep of gardens, lawns, pathways, and other external features.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure events and activities are supported with appropriate grounds preparation.
• Monitor and manage the use of resources, including tools, equipment, and consumables.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations.
• Provide guidance and training to junior staff members as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Valid driving licence and experience in operating grounds maintenance machinery.
• Proven experience in grounds maintenance and team leadership.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to achieving high standards.
• Good communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

• Previous experience in a similar role within an educational institution.
• Knowledge of sustainable grounds maintenance practices.
• Experience in managing a team and delivering training.
