The Opportunity:
As a Deputy Headteacher, you will play a key role in leading and supporting the school’s vision and mission. You will work closely with the Headteacher to ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and pastoral care. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a school that values excellence and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Headteacher in establishing and sustaining the school’s culture and ethos
- Lead curriculum implementation and assessment, ensuring a broad and balanced offer
- Support teaching staff in delivering high-quality, evidence-informed teaching
- Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and ensure effective provision for pupils with SEND
- Lead behaviour management strategies aligned with the school’s therapeutic ethos
- Monitor attendance and implement strategies to improve punctuality
- Oversee pastoral care systems to support pupils’ wellbeing and development
- Assist in operational management, including staffing and compliance with statutory requirements
- Support the development and implementation of the school improvement plan
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a special school or complex educational setting
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted inspection framework, safeguarding, SEND, and trauma-informed practice
- Ability to lead teams and model professional conduct as per the Staff Code of Conduct
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection policies
- QTS or NPQSL qualification
Preferred
- Experience in strategic planning and school improvement
- Experience with therapeutic and trauma-informed practices
- Strong communication and partnership working skills
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £40,000 to £55,000
