The Opportunity:

As a Deputy Headteacher, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Headteacher and driving excellence in teaching, learning, and pastoral care. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a supportive, trauma-informed environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Headteacher in fostering a positive school culture and maintaining high standards of teaching and learning
  • Lead the implementation of a broad, balanced curriculum tailored to meet the complex needs of students
  • Develop and oversee effective behaviour management strategies aligned with the school’s values and trauma-informed practices
  • Collaborate with the SENDCO to ensure inclusive, personalised learning plans and statutory compliance for students with special educational needs
  • Assist in the operational management of the school, including staffing, resources, and compliance
  • Represent the school at meetings and events as required

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven leadership experience in a special school or complex educational setting
  • Strong understanding of Ofsted inspection framework, safeguarding, and SEND procedures
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff while upholding professional conduct
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred

  • Experience in trauma-informed practice
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment
  • Experience in school leadership and management
