The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Design and Technology Teacher with a Food Technology Specialism to join a dynamic team and make a meaningful impact on student learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a high-quality, engaging curriculum in Design and Technology with a focus on Food Technology.
  • Support students' academic and personal development through effective teaching and pastoral care.
  • Plan and develop innovative lesson resources and syllabuses in line with curriculum requirements.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing targeted support and feedback.
  • Contribute to departmental planning and staff development initiatives.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and maintain strong communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment.
  • Participate in the academy’s pastoral system, including form tutoring responsibilities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent and a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Proven experience teaching Design and Technology at secondary level, ideally in a multi-ethnic urban school.
  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum at KS3 and KS4, and experience in lesson planning, resource development, and assessment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Good level of ICT skills, including the use of interactive teaching tools.
  • Commitment to high expectations, equality of access, and student welfare.

Preferred

  • Experience in Food Technology specialism or related areas.
  • Leadership experience or a track record of contributing to departmental success.
  • Experience in an 11-18 school setting.
  • Knowledge of innovative teaching strategies and approaches to student motivation.
