The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Design Technology Technician to support the department in maintaining and operating workshop equipment, preparing resources, and assisting with lesson delivery. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in Design & Technology and a commitment to health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Department and teaching staff with the preparation of resources and materials.
  • Operate and maintain workshop machinery and tools in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment for lessons and workshops.
  • Keep detailed records of equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Provide lesson support to teachers and students during practical sessions.
  • Ensure the workshop environment is safe, clean, and well-organised.
  • Stay up to date with developments in Design & Technology and workshop practices.
  • Contribute to the administration of the department as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong knowledge of Design & Technology and workshop equipment.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably in an educational setting.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching or supporting practical lessons in a school environment.
  • Knowledge of CAD or other design software.
  • Experience with the maintenance and repair of workshop machinery.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
