The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead to play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students and staff. This role is central to upholding the school’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate safeguarding initiatives across the school to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all students.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures in line with current safeguarding standards and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on safeguarding matters, including training and awareness programs.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for safeguarding concerns, ensuring timely and appropriate responses.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and authorities to manage complex safeguarding cases.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to safeguarding incidents and actions taken.
  • Promote a culture of vigilance and accountability across the school community.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safeguarding practices and make recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A minimum four-year recognized teaching qualification, including a Bachelor's Degree and Teaching Diploma or a Bachelor of Education.
  • Significant experience in a safeguarding or child protection role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding policies and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and empathy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to make informed decisions and assess risks effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience working with a variety of school curricula.
  • Further qualifications or training in safeguarding or child protection.
  • Experience in leading staff and students in safeguarding and wellbeing programs.
