The Opportunity:

The Head of Sixth Form (Assistant Head) will lead the development and growth of the Sixth Form, ensuring a high-quality academic and pastoral experience for students in Years 12 and 13. This is a pivotal role in shaping the future of the school as it expands to become a leading all-through institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the establishment and development of the Sixth Form, ensuring academic and pastoral excellence.
  • Oversee academic progress, target setting, assessment, and reporting for Sixth Form students.
  • Design and deliver an ambitious Sixth Form programme that integrates academic study, leadership, and enrichment.
  • Provide expert guidance for students applying to top global universities, including Oxbridge and Ivy League institutions.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Futures to expand university and careers links with external organisations.
  • Develop a comprehensive enrichment and life-skills programme for Sixth Form students.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure curriculum alignment and academic rigour.
  • Manage a team of Sixth Form Tutors, ensuring high-quality pastoral and academic support.
  • Communicate effectively with parents on Sixth Form matters, including academic progress and post-school planning.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through events, assemblies, and co-curricular activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree with PGCE or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in delivering GCSEs/IGCSEs and A-levels.
  • Demonstrated middle leadership experience.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Commitment to the values of curiosity, confidence, and kindness.

Preferred

  • International school experience.
  • Understanding of diverse educational environments.
  • Experience in university and careers guidance.
