As the Director of Drama, you will lead a dynamic and successful theatre programme, delivering high-quality drama teaching and overseeing major productions. This role offers the chance to shape young people’s creative development and contribute to a vibrant co-curricular culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage large-scale theatrical productions across the academic year.
  • Deliver high-quality drama teaching at both GCSE and A Level.
  • Develop and support a thriving co-curricular drama programme.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and theatre technicians to ensure the success of productions.
  • Nurture the creative talents of students in acting, design, stage management, and technical theatre.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Drama teaching staff and theatre technicians.
  • Ensure the effective use of state-of-the-art theatre facilities.
  • Contribute to the school’s broader creative and academic vision.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in directing theatre productions and teaching drama at senior levels.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to developing young people through performance.
  • Experience in managing a team of drama teachers and theatre technicians.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality drama education at GCSE and A Level.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an independent or high-achieving school environment.
  • Background in theatre-making and production management.
  • Familiarity with the UK school curriculum and assessment systems.
  • Experience with co-curricular programme development.
