Director of Inclusion to lead strategic SEND and inclusion initiatives at a forward-thinking school.

The Opportunity:
As the Director of Inclusion, you will lead the school’s strategic approach to ensuring every student has the opportunity to learn, think, contribute, and care. This is a pivotal role in driving inclusion, closing the gap for vulnerable learners, and embedding inclusion into the school’s quality of education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the school’s strategic approach to SEND, disadvantage, and targeted support.
- Ensure statutory duties are met with rigour and that resources are deployed effectively to maximise pupil progress.
- Build and lead a “Team Around the Child” that includes SENCo, safeguarding, and specialised support staff.
- Work in partnership with the Assistant Principal (QE) to operationalise the Pupil Premium strategy.
- Use qualitative and quantitative data to identify emerging needs such as SEMH or EBSA.
- Develop and implement evidence-based strategies for disadvantaged and Pupil Premium pupils.
- Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external partners to ensure student aspirations are central to decision-making.
- Inspire and lead a diverse team focused on supporting vulnerable learners.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven track record in outstanding inclusive classroom practice.
- Experience in leading on SEND, Pupil Premium implementation, or inclusion at a whole-school level.
- Deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and Equality Act 2010.
- Experience of Alternative Provision oversight or reintegration.
- Strong knowledge of the Ofsted 2025 Framework regarding inclusion.
- Ability to lead change and manage performance to achieve sustained improvement.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and fostering a sense of belonging.
Preferred
- Experience working effectively with parents and external agencies.
- Familiarity with using qualitative and quantitative data to monitor impact.
- Experience in co-production and working with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated alignment with the school’s values – Learn, Think, Contribute, Care.
