The Opportunity:

As the Director of Learning - Ethics, you will lead a dynamic and diverse Ethics faculty, shaping a curriculum that is innovative, research-driven, and impactful. You will play a pivotal role in driving student achievement and fostering a culture of excellence in teaching and learning across multiple subjects, including Politics, Religious Studies, Citizenship, and PSHE/RSE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a diverse Ethics faculty, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across Politics, Religious Studies, Citizenship, and PSHE/RSE.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive PSHE/RSE programme in line with statutory requirements and the school’s values.
  • Provide strategic direction and professional development for staff to enhance teaching standards and student outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring consistent achievement and support for all learners.
  • Manage faculty resources and collaborate with key stakeholders to maintain a cohesive and impactful curriculum.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Support the wider school community through leadership and professional development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and school policies related to curriculum delivery.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching Politics at Key Stage 5.
  • Strong leadership experience in managing a faculty, including Religious Studies, Citizenship, and PSHE/RSE.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver engaging, high-impact lessons.
  • Experience in curriculum design and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student success and inclusive education.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading PSHE/RSE programmes.
  • Familiarity with statutory RSE guidance and best practices.
  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational environment.
  • Strong background in professional development and staff training.
  • Knowledge of current research and trends in education and curriculum development.
