The Opportunity:

As the Geography Subject Lead, you will lead and manage the Geography department, driving academic outcomes and shaping a dynamic, research-driven curriculum. This is a chance to make a meaningful impact on student learning and teacher development across the school and wider Trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Geography department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Support the Director of Learning in delivering effective teaching, learning, and assessment strategies.
  • Plan, monitor, and refine departmental action plans to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and review the quality of teaching and learning through data analysis and work scrutiny.
  • Develop and deliver CPD opportunities within the subject area, including coaching and modelling best practice.
  • Assist in planning for external examinations and manage the departmental budget and resources.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and research in Geography education.
  • Ensure all students make expected levels of progress and attainment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in Geography teaching and leadership.
  • Strong subject knowledge and ability to deliver high-quality lessons.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Ability to lead and manage a department effectively.
  • Experience in data analysis and using it to drive improvement.
  • Commitment to student progress and attainment.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading CPD and coaching colleagues.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies.
  • Experience with external examinations and assessment planning.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
