The Opportunity:
As the Geography Subject Lead, you will lead and manage the Geography department, driving academic outcomes and shaping a dynamic, research-driven curriculum. This is a chance to make a meaningful impact on student learning and teacher development across the school and wider Trust.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Geography department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
- Support the Director of Learning in delivering effective teaching, learning, and assessment strategies.
- Plan, monitor, and refine departmental action plans to achieve continuous improvement.
- Evaluate and review the quality of teaching and learning through data analysis and work scrutiny.
- Develop and deliver CPD opportunities within the subject area, including coaching and modelling best practice.
- Assist in planning for external examinations and manage the departmental budget and resources.
- Promote a culture of innovation and research in Geography education.
- Ensure all students make expected levels of progress and attainment.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in Geography teaching and leadership.
- Strong subject knowledge and ability to deliver high-quality lessons.
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
- Ability to lead and manage a department effectively.
- Experience in data analysis and using it to drive improvement.
- Commitment to student progress and attainment.
Preferred
- Experience in leading CPD and coaching colleagues.
- Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies.
- Experience with external examinations and assessment planning.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting.
