The Opportunity:

As a Safeguarding Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students. You will work closely with students, families, and staff to promote a secure and supportive learning environment. This role requires a strong commitment to safeguarding and the ability to manage complex cases with professionalism and care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and safeguard students who may be at risk through early intervention and ongoing monitoring.
  • Liaise with external agencies, including social services and police, to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all safeguarding concerns and actions taken.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, families, and staff to support effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues on safeguarding procedures and best practices.
  • Attend multi-agency meetings and contribute to the development of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all safeguarding actions are in line with the school’s values and legal requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety, inclusion, and wellbeing across the school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience working with children and young people, particularly those facing emotional, behavioural or social challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with students, families and staff.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Experience in maintaining accurate records and working within safeguarding procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively with external agencies.

Preferred

  • Experience in multi-agency working and contributing to safeguarding processes.
  • Knowledge of child protection policies and legal frameworks.
  • Experience in continuous professional development and inclusive practice.
  • Experience with teaching or supporting students in a school or educational setting.
