Director of Rowing opportunity with a focus on strategic leadership and development.

The Opportunity:

As the Director of Rowing, you will lead and develop a high-impact rowing programme across multiple sites. This role is ideal for an experienced professional looking to shape a nationally significant initiative and contribute to a strategic vision that supports student excellence and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and quality-assure rowing within the curriculum and extra-curricular programmes.
  • Identify talent, develop training plans, and ensure strong athlete progression.
  • Develop inclusive on-land and on-water rowing opportunities for students across the Trust.
  • Establish, select, and manage racing squads for regional and national competitions.
  • Manage the boathouse, equipment, facilities, and related safety processes.
  • Develop partnerships, secure sponsorships, and explore funding opportunities.
  • Provide performance reporting and data insights for key stakeholders.
  • Line manage coaches, coordinate CPD, and support rowing leads in each academy.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong technical knowledge of rowing and junior pathway development.
  • Experience coaching at a competitive level and managing rowing facilities or programmes.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding.
  • Ability to motivate young people and staff across multiple sites.

Preferred

  • Experience building partnerships and securing funding.
  • Background in performance athlete development systems.
  • Experience in strategic planning and long-term programme development.
