The Opportunity:

As the Director of Sports and Outdoor Education, you will lead the development and delivery of a dynamic, knowledge-rich curriculum that inspires student participation and achievement in sports and outdoor education. This role is central to shaping a high-quality enrichment offer across the trust.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement an ambitious, knowledge-rich sports and outdoor education curriculum across all academies.
• Collaborate with subject leads and senior leaders to evaluate and enhance curriculum quality and student outcomes.
• Build subject expertise and support staff development in sports and outdoor education.
• Increase participation and achievement in sports and outdoor education across the trust.
• Work closely with senior leaders to ensure alignment with the trust’s educational vision and values.
• Promote a culture of inclusivity, innovation, and excellence in sports and outdoor education.
• Monitor and report on the impact of the curriculum and enrichment programs.
• Support the delivery of a high-quality, engaging enrichment offer for students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Proven leadership experience in a school or educational trust setting.
• Strong subject knowledge in sports and outdoor education.
• Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders and subject leads.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate and improve educational programs.

Preferred

• Experience in leading large-scale educational initiatives or programs.
• Knowledge of innovative approaches to outdoor education and physical development.
• Experience with teacher training and professional development.
• Familiarity with flexible working and staff wellbeing strategies.
