The Opportunity:

As Director of Sport, you will lead and shape the school’s sports program, inspiring students to achieve excellence in sport while promoting teamwork, inclusion, and lifelong participation. This is a strategic role with the potential to elevate the school’s sporting reputation globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the school’s sports program, aligning with the school’s mission and academic values.
  • Lead and develop a team of PE teachers and coaches, fostering a culture of professional growth and collaboration.
  • Design and implement a sports curriculum that balances competitive excellence with broad participation and student engagement.
  • Drive student performance in a range of sports, preparing teams for local, national, and international competitions.
  • Organize and manage flagship sporting events, tours, and inter-school competitions to enhance the school’s reputation.
  • Ensure the maintenance and development of high-quality sports facilities and resources.
  • Promote a strong sporting ethos within the school and wider community, engaging parents and external partners.
  • Set and monitor measurable goals for student participation, achievement, and wellbeing in sport.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • University degree in Physical Education, Sport, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior leadership role within an international school sports program.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams of educators and coaches.
  • Experience teaching and coaching in multiple sports, including Swimming, Football, and Basketball.
  • Expertise in international curricula, particularly American (AP) and British (IGCSE/A-Level) systems.
  • Demonstrable success in competitive sports at school, regional, or international levels.
  • Strong strategic vision, operational acumen, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to pastoral care, student development, and fostering a positive school culture.
  • Compliance with child safeguarding regulations and a focus on student wellbeing.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and managing large-scale sporting events.
  • Knowledge of international sports accreditation and standards.
  • Experience in working within a multicultural and dynamic educational environment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with a proven ability to mentor and inspire.
