The Opportunity:
As an Occupational Therapist, you will support students in developing essential motor, sensory, and executive functioning skills to enhance their participation in school life. You will work closely with teachers, families, and external professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment aligned with the American curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of students’ motor, sensory, and executive functioning skills.
- Develop individualised intervention plans based on assessments and classroom observations.
- Deliver targeted therapy sessions focusing on sensory integration, motor planning, and handwriting instruction.
- Provide teachers with strategies to support sensory needs and classroom participation.
- Design sensory diets and classroom support plans for students requiring additional support.
- Collaborate in case meetings, progress monitoring, and multidisciplinary discussions.
- Educate parents on home-based exercises and sensory strategies through workshops and direct communication.
- Support students during transitions to promote independence and reduce anxiety.
- Maintain accurate session notes, progress reports, and safety records.
- Advise on the selection and use of adaptive equipment and sensory room materials.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy with full professional certification.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in clinical or school-based occupational therapy.
- Strong knowledge of sensory integration, motor development, and executive functioning interventions.
- Experience working with students with autism, ADHD, DCD/dyspraxia, and regulation challenges.
- Ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary setting with teachers, SENCO, and families.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and case management skills.
- Proficiency in conducting functional assessments relevant to school performance.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred
- Experience in international or bilingual school environments.
- Additional language skills.
