The Opportunity:
As a Director of Studies, you will play a central role in supporting students’ academic, social, and personal development. You will guide them through their educational journey, from progress tracking to university applications. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate to develop mentoring and leadership skills in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of students
- Provide academic and pastoral support, including writing reports and communicating with parents
- Conduct one-to-one meetings to discuss progress, extra-curricular involvement, and university applications
- Teach up to 12 hours of group or individual classes per week
- Support the interview process for prospective students and manage student references
- Assist in organizing events such as Open Days, prize-giving ceremonies, and A Level options seminars
- Reinforce the school’s values and encourage participation in extra-curricular activities
- Support students in overcoming barriers to learning and maintaining discipline
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Undergraduate degree
- Experience or understanding of the needs of students aged 14+
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online systems
- Commitment to supporting extra-curricular activities
- Awareness of developments in Key Stage 4 and post-16 education
Preferred
- Experience in mentoring or coaching
- Knowledge of university application processes
- Experience with students with special educational needs or English as an additional language
