The Opportunity:

As an EAL Coordinator (Secondary), you will support multilingual learners in developing English proficiency and achieving academic success. This role provides leadership within the EAL department and contributes to a school-wide vision of equitable learning and student-centered support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support multilingual learners in developing English language skills and academic achievement across the curriculum
  • Provide leadership and professional development within the EAL department
  • Collaborate with teachers, leaders, and the Integrated Services team to enhance equitable learning opportunities
  • Develop and implement strategies for English language assessment and instruction
  • Lead and mentor new and experienced staff through professional learning and development
  • Conduct teacher observations and provide feedback to support instructional excellence
  • Design and deliver curriculum that meets the needs of multilingual learners
  • Train and support staff in best practices for teaching English language learners

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • At least 5 years of experience working with multilingual learners with relevant qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and willingness to be an active member of the leadership team
  • Experience in MYP and DP teaching or knowledge of AERO standards
  • SIOP trained or equivalent
  • Trained in English language assessment platforms such as WIDA, SLATE, or IELTS
  • Experience in leading teams and professional learning
  • Ability to develop and retain new and experienced staff
  • Experience in teacher observation and oversight or willingness to be trained
  • Knowledge of curriculum development
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Strong understanding of language acquisition in a secondary school setting
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills

Preferred

  • Master’s in Education
  • Teaching certification
  • Certification in teaching language learners
  • MYP and DP trained
