The Opportunity:

Join a dynamic team as an EAL Teacher and make a meaningful impact on students from diverse linguistic backgrounds. This role is central to supporting learners in developing the language skills needed to succeed academically and socially within a globally focused curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct EAL instruction to individuals and small groups using appropriate teaching strategies.
  • Design and deliver targeted lessons that develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
  • Differentiate instruction based on students’ language proficiency levels and academic needs.
  • Integrate academic language support to enable access to Cambridge International Curriculum subjects.
  • Collaborate with subject teachers to modify content and assessments for EAL learners.
  • Support colleagues in implementing inclusive classroom strategies and adapting instruction for multilingual students.
  • Assess student English proficiency using recognised tools such as CEFR or Cambridge standards.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Support students’ confidence and participation in school life and help them adapt to the school environment.
  • Promote intercultural understanding and celebrate linguistic diversity across the school.
  • Engage in professional development related to EAL, bilingual education, and international teaching practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed., PGCE, CELTA, TESOL, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant EAL teaching experience, ideally in an international or Cambridge International Curriculum school
  • Familiarity with language-supportive strategies across multiple subject areas

  • Experience with Cambridge International Curriculum
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Culturally responsive and empathetic teaching approach
  • Experience with student wellbeing and inclusion initiatives
