The Opportunity:
As an EAL Teacher - Middle School, you will play a key role in supporting students with English language needs and preparing them to engage effectively with the curriculum. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student learning and development in a dynamic educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a successful EAL program tailored to the needs of middle school students.
- Provide targeted support to students with varying levels of English proficiency to help them access the curriculum.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure alignment of EAL strategies with subject-specific learning goals.
- Design and deliver engaging, differentiated instruction that promotes language development and academic success.
- Monitor and assess student progress through regular evaluations and report findings to stakeholders.
- Participate in professional development and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the EAL program.
- Support the school’s mission by fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A relevant bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
- Qualified teacher status or equivalent certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching EAL at the middle school level.
- Strong knowledge of English language acquisition and teaching methodologies.
- Experience working in an international or IB school environment.
Preferred
- Experience with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).
- Proficiency in teaching students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment in an EAL context.
- Fluency in a second language.
