The Opportunity:

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will support the development and learning of children aged 5-7 with complex developmental needs. You will be part of a dedicated team that creates a nurturing and stimulating environment, helping children thrive through engaging and inclusive activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children with complex developmental needs
  • Deliver engaging activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development
  • Work closely with colleagues to support children’s learning through play and sensory-based approaches
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that encourage learning and development
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure a consistent and supportive approach
  • Support children with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN), social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance practice and support children’s growth
  • Foster an inclusive environment where every child feels valued and respected

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Certificate in Early Years Education or equivalent
  • At least 3 years’ experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and early years curriculum frameworks (e.g., EYFS)
  • Experience working with children who have SLCN, SEMH and/or complex needs
  • Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate activities that encourage learning through play

Preferred

  • Knowledge of sensory play based learning
  • Excellent communication skills with both children and adults
  • Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with young learners with complex needs
