Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, following the AQA specification for English Language and Literature.
- Develop and implement engaging teaching strategies that promote student achievement and a love of literature and language.
- Support students of all abilities, including those requiring additional help and those aiming for advanced study.
- Contribute to departmental planning, resource development, and the sharing of best practices.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance to support learning.
- Participate in extracurricular activities and school events that promote the school's values and ethos.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and high-standard approach to teaching and learning.
- Stay up to date with developments in the field of English education and incorporate new ideas into teaching practice.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Relevant experience in teaching English at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging and challenging lessons.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to student welfare and inclusive education.
Preferred
- Experience with GCSE and A level English courses.
- Experience in leading or contributing to departmental initiatives.
- Familiarity with the use of technology in the classroom.
- Experience with pastoral care and student support.
