Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, following the AQA specification for English Language and Literature.
  • Develop and implement engaging teaching strategies that promote student achievement and a love of literature and language.
  • Support students of all abilities, including those requiring additional help and those aiming for advanced study.
  • Contribute to departmental planning, resource development, and the sharing of best practices.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance to support learning.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and school events that promote the school's values and ethos.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and high-standard approach to teaching and learning.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the field of English education and incorporate new ideas into teaching practice.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in teaching English at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging and challenging lessons.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student welfare and inclusive education.

Preferred

  • Experience with GCSE and A level English courses.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to departmental initiatives.
  • Familiarity with the use of technology in the classroom.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support.
