The Opportunity:

As an English Literacy Coordinator, you will lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of whole-school literacy strategies. You will work closely with the Director of Learning to ensure high-quality teaching, subject knowledge, and a coherently planned curriculum that enhances student achievement and learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate whole-school literacy initiatives to improve teaching and learning standards.
  • Support staff in developing subject knowledge and delivering high-quality English lessons.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of literacy programs and curriculum delivery.
  • Implement training and professional development opportunities for teaching staff.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment with school-wide educational goals.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in English teaching.
  • Develop and maintain resources that support effective literacy instruction.
  • Engage with students and parents to promote a shared understanding of the importance of literacy.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a classroom teacher with a relevant university degree in English or related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development.
  • Strong knowledge of English curriculum and teaching methodologies.
  • Experience in delivering effective literacy programs and strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and senior leadership.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching English across different exam boards.
  • Familiarity with the IB curriculum and its delivery.
  • Experience in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience in curriculum planning and assessment.
