Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the English department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement a clear vision for the department aligned with the school’s strategic goals.
- Oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of English curriculum across all key stages.
- Support and mentor staff within the department to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted interventions where needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the school to promote a shared commitment to excellence and inclusion.
- Ensure the department complies with all safeguarding and educational standards.
- Represent the department in meetings and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school or college.
- Strong subject knowledge in English, with a track record of delivering high-quality teaching.
- Experience in leading and managing a department with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Preferred
- Experience in a school within the SEARCH Education Trust or similar multi-academy trust.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
- Familiarity with the use of digital tools in teaching and learning.
- Experience in driving staff development and professional growth.
