Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons to students across all ability levels.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that aligns with the National Curriculum and recent educational developments.
  • Motivate and engage students through innovative teaching strategies and whole-school approaches to learning.
  • Assess, record, and report on student progress effectively and consistently.
  • Support the school’s ethos and commitment to inclusivity and student achievement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Trust to share best practices and enhance teaching methods.
  • Participate in departmental and whole-school training and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of extracurricular activities related to English.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching English to at least Key Stage 4 (KS4).
  • In-depth knowledge of the National Curriculum requirements.
  • Understanding of recent curriculum and learning developments.
  • Ability to motivate and engage students across a range of abilities.
  • Strong skills in assessing, recording, and reporting student learning.
  • Commitment to continuous self-improvement and reflective practice.
  • Alignment with the school’s values and ethos.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a multi-academy Trust or similar educational environment.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to curriculum development.
  • Experience in pastoral care or student support roles.
