Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons across all year groups, including A-level students.
  • Design and implement engaging and innovative teaching strategies aligned with the Cambridge International curriculum.
  • Support students in developing critical thinking, analytical skills, and a love for literature.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the continuous development of the English Department.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and events that enhance the school’s academic and cultural environment.
  • Stay up to date with current developments in English literature and pedagogy.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through pastoral care and mentorship.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in teaching English at secondary level.
  • Strong knowledge of the Cambridge IGCSE and A-level English curricula.
  • Proven ability to deliver outstanding results and inspire students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching a diverse range of texts, including contemporary and classic literature.
  • Familiarity with teaching English as a second language.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to departmental initiatives.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
