The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate English Teacher to join our highly successful and collaborative department. The role involves teaching KS3-5 English and contributing to the school's mission of academic excellence and inclusive education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons to KS3-5 students, ensuring a rigorous and engaging curriculum.
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies that promote student progress and achievement.
  • Monitor and assess student performance regularly, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance departmental effectiveness.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of the essential wider curriculum (EWC) and extracurricular activities.
  • Support students with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) through inclusive teaching methods.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice and subject knowledge.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree in English or a related subject.
  • Proven experience teaching English at KS3-5 level.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English literature and language.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to the school's values of excellence and inclusion.

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar.
  • Familiarity with the Ofsted outstanding framework and successful school improvement strategies.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to departmental initiatives or curriculum development.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
