The Opportunity:

The Deputy Director of Learning - English will lead a group of curriculum areas, inspire both students and staff, and deliver outstanding lessons that challenge and advance learning. This is a key leadership role for an experienced and passionate educator looking to make a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a group of curriculum areas, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Inspire and motivate students and staff to achieve their full potential.
  • Plan and deliver outstanding lessons that challenge and advance student learning.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous professional development.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to shape the school’s educational vision and strategy.
  • Promote the school’s values, including safeguarding, equality, and diversity.
  • Support the implementation of the IB Middle Years Programme and other academic initiatives.
  • Build strong professional relationships with colleagues, students, and parents.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching and leading curriculum areas.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
  • Passion for education and a desire to inspire and motivate others.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership role within a school or MAT.
  • Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate curriculum.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support.
  • Strong track record in driving academic improvement.
  • Experience in managing and developing staff.
