Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons across a range of ages and abilities.
  • Foster a love of reading, writing, and communication through engaging and creative teaching methods.
  • Plan and deliver lessons that support pupil progress and achievement.
  • Participate in extra-curricular activities such as BBC School Report, theatre trips, and poetry competitions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the department to share best practices and resources.
  • Provide intervention and revision support to help students achieve their full potential.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Experience teaching English in a secondary school (ages 11-16 essential, ages 11-18 desirable).
  • Excellent curriculum knowledge and the ability to sequence skills and knowledge effectively.
  • A proven record of delivering high-quality teaching and securing pupil progress.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to wider school responsibilities and extra-curricular activities.

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Experience in pastoral care or student support.
  • A background in continuous professional development.
  • An appreciation of working within a school that is central to its community.
