Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality English lessons across a range of ages and abilities.
- Foster a love of reading, writing, and communication through engaging and creative teaching methods.
- Plan and deliver lessons that support pupil progress and achievement.
- Participate in extra-curricular activities such as BBC School Report, theatre trips, and poetry competitions.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the department to share best practices and resources.
- Provide intervention and revision support to help students achieve their full potential.
- Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Support the school’s mission to provide a well-rounded education that prepares students for the future.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Experience teaching English in a secondary school (ages 11-16 essential, ages 11-18 desirable).
- Excellent curriculum knowledge and the ability to sequence skills and knowledge effectively.
- A proven record of delivering high-quality teaching and securing pupil progress.
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Commitment to wider school responsibilities and extra-curricular activities.
Preferred
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
- Experience in pastoral care or student support.
- A background in continuous professional development.
- An appreciation of working within a school that is central to its community.
