The Opportunity:
As a Theatre Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the technical operations of a vibrant Performing Arts Department. You will work closely with the Technical Manager to ensure that all productions meet the school’s high standards, from set construction to stage management. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to a dynamic and ambitious arts programme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with set construction, carpentry, and stage setup for a variety of productions.
- Support the Technical Manager in the administration and maintenance of the Performing Arts Department.
- Ensure all technical equipment is maintained and operational for school and public performances.
- Collaborate with other theatre staff to deliver high-quality productions across multiple genres.
- Provide guidance and support to students in technical theatre and stage management.
- Maintain and update technical records and inventory systems.
- Participate in the planning and execution of large-scale productions, including musicals and plays.
- Ensure health and safety standards are met in all technical and stage operations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in technical theatre or stage management.
- Strong practical skills in set construction, carpentry, and stage operations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards in all aspects of theatre production.
Preferred
- Experience working in an educational setting or with young people.
- Knowledge of theatre lighting, sound, and stage machinery.
- Experience with administration and inventory management in a theatre context.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by the Performing Arts calendar.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive annual salary of £28,000.
