Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging, stimulating, and challenging English lessons for students aged 11-16.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and achievement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to create shared resources and share best practice.
  • Support student progress through effective assessment, feedback, and targeted interventions.
  • Promote creativity and critical thinking in English education, with a focus on preparing students for their future.
  • Engage with the school’s ethos of being a UNICEF Rights Respecting School and uphold its values in all aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the English department.
  • Maintain a visually engaging and inspiring classroom environment, using available technology effectively.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in English.
  • Experience in teaching English at Key Stage 3 and 4 (11-16).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with early career teachers or NQTs.
  • Experience in curriculum design and innovation.
  • Familiarity with the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools framework.
  • Experience with creative and cross-curricular teaching approaches.
  • A passion for promoting creativity and student engagement in English education.
