The Opportunity:

As an English Teacher, you will deliver the English curriculum across all Key Stages and support extra-curricular activities. This is a temporary maternity cover role, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver creative and engaging English lessons aligned with pedagogical best practice.
  • Support the delivery of the English curriculum across all Key Stages.
  • Contribute to ‘University Stretch’ sessions and other whole school initiatives.
  • Take on a form tutor role and support student pastoral care.
  • Participate in departmental improvement projects and extra-curricular activities.
  • Represent the English department in school events and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge.
  • Experience in teaching English at Key Stages 1–5.
  • Strong understanding of pedagogical best practice.
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Willingness to take on a form tutor role.

Preferred

  • Experience in contributing to co-curricular provision.
  • Background in departmental improvement projects.
  • Experience with University Stretch or similar enrichment programs.
  • Familiarity with independent school environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
