The Opportunity:

As a Food Subject Leader, you will play a key role in driving excellence in teaching and learning within the Food department. You will inspire students, lead colleagues, and contribute to raising standards across the school, ensuring a focus on student progress and attainment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Food curriculum to ensure it meets the highest standards of teaching and learning.
  • Support and mentor staff within the department to enhance practice and improve outcomes for students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Collaborate with other subject leaders to share best practices and drive continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to shape the strategic direction of the school’s Food department.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and creativity in teaching and learning.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Represent the school at relevant events and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in Food education.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve student attainment and progress.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Familiarity with current Food education trends and pedagogical approaches.
  • Experience with cross-curricular collaboration.
  • Experience in supporting staff professional development.
