The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons that inspire and challenge students of all abilities
  • Create a safe, stimulating, and respectful classroom environment that encourages learning and personal growth
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that reflect the curriculum and promote a love of learning
  • Assess student progress effectively and provide constructive feedback to support learning outcomes
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with special educational needs and English as an additional language
  • Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching and learning
  • Promote good behaviour and maintain a positive and productive learning environment
  • Support the wider ethos of the school through participation in extra-curricular activities and professional development

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in English education
  • Strong subject knowledge in English and a commitment to promoting literacy and language skills
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, structured lessons that meet curriculum requirements
  • Experience in assessing student progress and providing effective feedback
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school with a diverse student population
  • Familiarity with the Mercian Trust and its values
  • Experience in leading or contributing to curriculum development
  • Strong experience in extra-curricular activities or pastoral care
  • Experience with teaching students with special educational needs or English as an additional language
