The Opportunity:
As an English Teacher, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of students aged 11 to 17. You will inspire students, build meaningful relationships, and deliver a curriculum that meets the diverse needs of each learner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a high-quality English curriculum spanning Entry Level, Functional Skills, Key Stage 3, and GCSE.
- Build strong, nurturing relationships with students to support their academic and personal development.
- Plan engaging and creative lessons that challenge and motivate students of all abilities.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to support the holistic development of students.
- Manage complex and challenging behaviours with empathy, consistency, and flexibility.
- Contribute to the development of the academic and extra-curricular curriculum.
- Implement effective strategies for working with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Post Graduate Education Certificate (PGCE)
- Proven record of good or outstanding teaching practice
- Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence
- Ability to teach English to GCSE or equivalent vocational level
- Experience working with children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
- Experience in managing challenging behaviours and crisis situations
- Proven ability to deliver a creative and academically engaging curriculum
Preferred
- Experience of working with hard-to-reach or disengaged families
- Experience in implementing therapeutic approaches in education
- Experience in curriculum development and extra-curricular programme design
