The Opportunity:

As an English Teacher, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of students aged 11 to 17. This is a unique opportunity to work in a therapeutic and child-centred setting, where your impact extends beyond the classroom. You will inspire students, build meaningful relationships, and deliver a curriculum that meets the diverse needs of each learner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a high-quality English curriculum spanning Entry Level, Functional Skills, Key Stage 3, and GCSE.
  • Build strong, nurturing relationships with students to support their academic and personal development.
  • Plan engaging and creative lessons that challenge and motivate students of all abilities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to support the holistic development of students.
  • Manage complex and challenging behaviours with empathy, consistency, and flexibility.
  • Contribute to the development of the academic and extra-curricular curriculum.
  • Implement effective strategies for working with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Post Graduate Education Certificate (PGCE)
  • Proven record of good or outstanding teaching practice
  • Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence
  • Ability to teach English to GCSE or equivalent vocational level
  • Experience working with children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
  • Experience in managing challenging behaviours and crisis situations
  • Proven ability to deliver a creative and academically engaging curriculum

Preferred

  • Experience of working with hard-to-reach or disengaged families
  • Experience in implementing therapeutic approaches in education
  • Experience in curriculum development and extra-curricular programme design
