The Opportunity:
As an English Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering individualised learning and therapeutic support to young people aged 13–18. Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, tailored English lessons for learners aged 13–18
- Support young people to achieve qualifications ranging from Entry Level to GCSE
- Collaborate with education, clinical and care teams to ensure a holistic, trauma-informed approach
- Create a secure, caring, and challenging environment that encourages progress and resilience
- Contribute to and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Deliver differentiated lessons to pupils with a wide range of needs and abilities
- Support teaching on the wards where appropriate
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to promote student well-being and academic success
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) – English specialism
- Experience teaching English to learners aged 13–18
- Commitment to individualised learning and therapeutic support
Preferred
- Experience working with SEMH, SEND or within an alternative provision or secure environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional resilience
- Passion for inclusive education and mental health-informed practice
- Ability to adapt and differentiate effectively for pupils with a wide range of needs and abilities
