The Opportunity:

As an English Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering individualised learning and therapeutic support to young people aged 13–18. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in a low-secure, small school setting, where your impact is directly felt by students and their progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, tailored English lessons for learners aged 13–18
  • Support young people to achieve qualifications ranging from Entry Level to GCSE
  • Collaborate with education, clinical and care teams to ensure a holistic, trauma-informed approach
  • Create a secure, caring, and challenging environment that encourages progress and resilience
  • Contribute to and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Deliver differentiated lessons to pupils with a wide range of needs and abilities
  • Support teaching on the wards where appropriate
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to promote student well-being and academic success

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) – English specialism
  • Experience teaching English to learners aged 13–18
  • Commitment to individualised learning and therapeutic support

Preferred

  • Experience working with SEMH, SEND or within an alternative provision or secure environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional resilience
  • Passion for inclusive education and mental health-informed practice
  • Ability to adapt and differentiate effectively for pupils with a wide range of needs and abilities
