The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate English Teacher to join our team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of students aged 5–16. This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed English lessons while working in a supportive and innovative school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons aligned to GCSE and Functional Skills standards.
  • Create a safe, predictable and emotionally supportive classroom environment using trauma-informed principles.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of students with additional needs.
  • Work closely with pastoral staff to support emotional regulation and engagement.
  • Assess pupil progress using formative and summative methods and maintain accurate records.
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews, progress reports, and personalised learning plans.
  • Prepare pupils for examinations and assessments in a way that minimises anxiety and builds resilience.
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and collaborate with the SENCo, therapists, and external professionals.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in teaching English.
  • Experience working with students with additional needs and an understanding of behavioural management.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed and relational approaches in teaching.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering GCSE English or Functional Skills.
  • Experience with trauma-informed education and SEND.
  • Experience in pastoral support or form tutoring.
  • Passion for working in a therapeutic and supportive school environment.
  • Commitment to professional development and reflective practice.
