The Opportunity:

As a Family Engagement Leader, you will play a key role in improving attendance, engagement, and wellbeing for pupils. You will lead on attendance strategy, support families, and ensure safeguarding and mental health are prioritised across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and implement strategies to improve attendance and reduce persistent absence
  • Provide early intervention and emotional wellbeing support to pupils and families
  • Manage EBSA interventions and support pupils with anxiety or learning difficulties
  • Coordinate pupil induction, transition, and assessment visits for new starters
  • Track and report attendance data, creating Individual Attendance and Education Plans (IAEPs)
  • Collaborate with external agencies and multi-agency teams to advocate for pupils and families
  • Promote a culture of listening to children and shaping support based on their needs
  • Support whole-school mental health initiatives and staff training

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Minimum GCSE in Maths and English
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Confidence in working with data and systems
  • Experience with restorative practice and relationship-based work
  • Ability to communicate confidently with pupils, families, and professionals
  • Commitment to safeguarding processes and multi-agency collaboration

Preferred

  • Experience in education or social care
  • Background in mental health or wellbeing support
  • Previous experience in attendance or family engagement roles
  • Knowledge of special educational needs and mental health support
