The Opportunity:
As a Fees Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing and collecting school fees across a network of schools. This position requires a proactive approach to debt recovery, ensuring that processes are handled professionally and with sensitivity. You will work closely with schools and families to maintain accurate records and support the smooth operation of fee collection activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of accounts and ensure timely collection of school fees.
- Identify overdue accounts and issue reminders in accordance with established procedures.
- Communicate with parents and carers regarding arrears, disputes, and queries.
- Negotiate payment arrangements and maintain accurate records.
- Process card payments for overdue accounts and support the production of regular reports.
- Liaise with Heads, Directors of Finance, and Trust colleagues on fee-related matters.
- Attend and support half-termly debtor meetings and ensure compliance with data protection standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience managing a substantial aged debt portfolio.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for handling sensitive conversations.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team.
Preferred
- Experience in education or customer service environments.
- Knowledge of debt recovery processes and best practices.
- Experience with financial systems and reporting tools.
- Strong attention to detail and a solutions-focused approach.
