As a Finance Manager, you will play a crucial role in the financial leadership of the school. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee financial management, accounting, budgeting, and compliance processes
- Provide financial insight and strategic advice to senior leadership
- Prepare and deliver high-quality financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and financial procedures
- Manage procurement, contract management, and service level agreements
- Monitor financial performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions
- Support budget holders in managing resources effectively
- Maintain strong financial controls and internal audit processes
- Coordinate with external auditors and advisors
- Ensure effective use of financial systems and identify opportunities for improvement
- Support income generation through lettings, grants, and trading activities
- Ensure compliance with Best Value principles in all purchasing decisions
- Oversee financial aspects of capital projects and facilities management
- Promote the school’s ethos and values through external relations and marketing initiatives
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in financial management within an educational setting
- Strong knowledge of statutory and regulatory financial requirements
- Experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in managing a finance team and line management responsibilities
Preferred
- Experience with financial systems and software
- Knowledge of procurement and contract management
- Experience in audit processes and compliance
- Familiarity with education sector financial policies and procedures
- Experience in promoting and developing external partnerships
