The Opportunity:

As a Finance Manager, you will play a crucial role in the financial leadership of the school. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee financial management, accounting, budgeting, and compliance processes
  • Provide financial insight and strategic advice to senior leadership
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and financial procedures
  • Manage procurement, contract management, and service level agreements
  • Monitor financial performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions
  • Support budget holders in managing resources effectively
  • Maintain strong financial controls and internal audit processes
  • Coordinate with external auditors and advisors
  • Ensure effective use of financial systems and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Support income generation through lettings, grants, and trading activities
  • Ensure compliance with Best Value principles in all purchasing decisions
  • Oversee financial aspects of capital projects and facilities management
  • Promote the school’s ethos and values through external relations and marketing initiatives

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in financial management within an educational setting
  • Strong knowledge of statutory and regulatory financial requirements
  • Experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in managing a finance team and line management responsibilities

Preferred

  • Experience with financial systems and software
  • Knowledge of procurement and contract management
