The Opportunity:

As a Sociology and Criminology Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping students’ understanding of society, culture, and criminology. You will deliver engaging lessons that promote critical thinking and personal development, while supporting students in achieving their academic goals within a values-based environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in Sociology and Criminology to Key Stage 3 and 4 students
  • Support students’ academic progress and personal development within a values-driven community
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective teaching strategies
  • Plan and deliver lessons that are tailored to the needs of Key Stage 3 learners
  • Promote an inclusive and respectful classroom environment that reflects the school’s ethos
  • Participate in staff development and continuous professional learning
  • Monitor and assess student progress to ensure academic success
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities and pastoral support

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A strong interest or background in sociology, criminology, or related social sciences
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to secondary school students
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to plan effective lessons
  • Basic understanding of classroom management techniques
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment

Preferred

  • Relevant qualifications in education or subject area
  • Experience in teaching Sociology or Criminology at Key Stage 3 or 4
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods
  • Experience working in a Catholic school or similar values-based environment
