The Opportunity:

As a Finance Officer, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and efficient financial services across the school. This is a varied and hands-on role that supports the school’s operations through financial processing, reporting, and reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process a wide range of financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Maintain high-quality financial records that support effective decision-making.
  • Ensure accuracy and adherence to financial policies and controls in processing purchase orders, invoices, income, and payments.
  • Assist with financial reporting and reconciliation activities, including budget monitoring and audit support.
  • Contribute to service improvements by identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Provide responsive support to colleagues across the school and maintain finance systems and data to a high standard.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in Finance and across the school to build positive working relationships.
  • Handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality and integrity.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working in a Finance Assistant or Finance Officer role with responsibility for processing financial transactions.
  • Strong computer literacy, with excellent Excel skills and confidence using finance systems (e.g. PS Financials).
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy in financial processing and reporting.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • A professional approach to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive financial information with integrity.

Preferred

  • Experience with financial reporting and reconciliation activities.
  • Knowledge of budget monitoring and audit processes.
  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational environment.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in further developing finance skills and experience within a supportive, values-driven organisation.
