The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Principal - Curriculum and Achievement, you will play a pivotal role in driving academic excellence and student progress. This is a leadership position that offers a unique chance to shape curriculum development and improve outcomes for students, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop curriculum strategies to enhance student achievement and attainment.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends, support intervention strategies, and monitor progress.
  • Work closely with senior leadership and department heads to ensure alignment with school improvement goals.
  • Support the development of inclusive teaching practices and strategies for students with special educational needs.
  • Oversee the implementation of effective assessment and monitoring systems.
  • Provide professional development and guidance to staff to improve teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with external partners and research institutions to ensure evidence-informed practice.
  • Ensure all safeguarding and compliance policies are followed in all aspects of the role.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a department or faculty within a school setting.
  • Strong record of improving student outcomes, particularly for disadvantaged and SEN students.
  • Excellent understanding of curriculum planning, data analysis, and progress tracking.
  • Experience in educational leadership and management.
  • Commitment to social mobility and inclusion in education.

Preferred

  • Experience in working with the EEF or Research School networks.
  • Background in evidence-informed teaching practices.
  • Experience in leading school improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with colleagues, students, and parents.
