The Opportunity:
As a First Aid Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of students across all age groups. This is a key position that supports the school’s commitment to student well-being and creates a safe, supportive learning environment for all.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper medical provision for students, including managing injuries and illnesses, and communicating with parents and medical services as needed.
- Administer and manage prescribed and over-the-counter medications brought into school, ensuring the safety of all students.
- Coordinate and deliver student immunisation programmes and manage individual medical requirements such as allergies, asthma, and diabetes.
- Develop and implement Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) and arrange temporary classroom relocations for students with mobility needs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, risk assessments, and health care plans.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including RIDDOR requirements and HSE guidelines.
- Coordinate staff first aid training and regularly review and communicate first aid policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the school’s health education programmes and advise students and staff on health-related matters.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Hold appropriate first aid and medical training certifications.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in stressful situations.
- Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive medical information.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently with initiative.
- Warm, empathetic, and energetic approach to working with children.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and parents.
- Understanding of safeguarding, child development, and safe working practices.
- Flexibility, resilience, and a passion for helping children flourish.
Preferred
- Previous experience in a similar role within an educational setting.
- Working knowledge of database systems such as Medi Tracker or ISAMS.
