The Opportunity:

As a Foundation Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping the academic and personal development of Year 7 students. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, integrated Foundation Studies curriculum that combines English, Maths, Science, and Humanities. You will help build confidence, establish routines, and support students in making a successful transition into secondary education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across a broad Year 7 curriculum with clarity and confidence.
  • Support students in developing strong academic and personal habits from the start of their secondary education.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a coherent, structured learning experience across subjects.
  • Foster a positive, literacy-rich classroom environment that promotes engagement and success.
  • Engage with families to support student learning and development.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Foundation Studies curriculum and teaching practices.
  • Provide pastoral support and guidance to students, ensuring they feel safe, respected, and motivated.
  • Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives focused on student success and teacher growth.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in teaching younger students or transitioning from primary to secondary education.
  • Strong understanding of how younger pupils learn and thrive.
  • Ability to deliver a broad curriculum with clarity and confidence.
  • Commitment to high expectations, nurture, and scaffolded learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching Key Stage 2 or working with students transitioning to secondary education.
  • Familiarity with integrated curriculum approaches.
  • Experience in pastoral care or student support.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of literacy development and its impact on student success.
