The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a dynamic and experienced French Teacher - Maternity Cover to join its team from September 2026. This full-time, one-year fixed term role is ideal for a passionate educator who is dedicated to inspiring students and delivering high-quality teaching across all key stages, including A-Level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach French to students across all key stages, up to and including A-Level.
  • Support students in preparing for university applications.
  • Deliver engaging and innovative lessons that go beyond the National Curriculum.
  • Encourage a love of learning and cultural understanding in students.
  • May be required to teach Spanish lessons at Key Stage 3, depending on the candidate's experience and interest.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in school events, pastoral care, and extra-curricular activities.
  • Contribute to the development of the French department, including subject lead responsibilities where applicable.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in teaching French.
  • Strong subject knowledge in French, including A-Level preparation.
  • Experience in delivering lessons that promote engagement and learning beyond the curriculum.
  • Commitment to student welfare and pastoral care.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and take on leadership responsibilities where appropriate.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching Spanish or willingness to learn and teach Spanish at Key Stage 3.
  • Familiarity with the use of technology in teaching.
  • Experience in extra-curricular activities or leadership roles within a school setting.
  • Knowledge of university application processes and support for students.
