The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated History Teacher and Subject Leader to join a well-established department with a proven track record of academic success. This role offers the opportunity to lead and shape the history curriculum at Key Stage 3 and GCSE, making a meaningful impact on student learning and achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality history lessons to Key Stage 3 and GCSE students.
  • Lead and develop the history curriculum in line with the school's vision and values.
  • Monitor and assess student progress to ensure continuous improvement in learning outcomes.
  • Support and mentor junior staff within the history department.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance cross-curricular learning and student engagement.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of extracurricular activities related to history.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes respect and curiosity.
  • Stay up to date with current educational research and best practices in history teaching.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in history education.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a subject department.
  • Strong knowledge of the history curriculum at Key Stage 3 and GCSE.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Familiarity with assessment and examination requirements for GCSE history.
  • Experience in leading or mentoring other teachers.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Passion for promoting global citizenship and intercultural understanding.
