The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Governors Clerk to provide essential support to the strategic leadership of the school. This role ensures the governing board operates efficiently and complies with all statutory requirements. The ideal candidate will be a highly organised and professional individual who is passionate about contributing to the success of a school that is committed to high standards and student achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, impartial advice on governance, procedures, and compliance
- Monitor and ensure compliance with statutory requirements for the Academy
- Prepare agendas, collate papers, and produce high-quality minutes for Full Governing Body meetings, sub-committees, and other relevant meetings
- Support the recruitment, induction, and ongoing training of governors
- Maintain up-to-date governance information, policies, and statutory documentation
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience in professional clerking, preferably within a school or academy setting
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- High levels of integrity, confidentiality, and impartiality
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Confident use of ICT to support efficient administration
- Flexible approach to working hours, including attendance at evening meetings
Preferred
- Experience with governance processes and procedures
- Knowledge of educational legislation and statutory requirements
- Experience in supporting senior leadership teams
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
