Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the science department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes in science
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment for science staff
  • Oversee curriculum development and ensure alignment with national standards
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of science staff and students
  • Represent the science department at school and Trust-wide meetings
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous professional development
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of science facilities and equipment

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a science department
  • Demonstrated success in improving student achievement and outcomes
  • Strong classroom teaching experience with a passion for science education
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to student welfare and safeguarding

Preferred

  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting
  • Leadership experience in a large or complex department
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment
  • Knowledge of best practice in science education
